Trick or Treat?
(by Bill Martin Jr. & Michael Sampson/ illus. by Pa, Simon & Schuster $14.95 Score:) Though not a scary holiday book, this starts out like a counting word play book with a little trick or treater collecting goodies as he visits each floor in his building. But on the tenth floor there's Merlin who casts a spell and seemingly spoils the ride down. Happily, Daddy's hug at the first floor undoes the spell and all ends well. But we think preschoolers won't get this- maybe not 1st or 2nd graders, either.
