Creativity for Kids Glow in the Dark Turtle Lagoon

Remember making dioramas for school? This is a bit like that…a miniature setting that comes with all the accessories. We usually suggest more free form clay modeling, but this kind of project can be satisfying to school age kids who long for more realistic results. The kit includes a small “pond” and a turtle, starfish, plants, rocks and special clay—some of it glows in the dark— plus some goggly eyes, and two tools for cutting and splicing. It takes some fine motor skills to decorate the starfish and turtle, arrange the pond and finally see it all glow in the dark. It’s one of those projects that will keep hands busy and will probably lead to a little pretend play before it ends up on the shelf. No need to feed this turtle and no worries about salmonella…just play and pretend. 5 & up.
