Our testers like the whimsical look and open-ended style of Kid K’nex sets with big eyes and funny claws that can be put together in endless ways. Made of colorful plastic they can be used by following the patterns for models or made any way the child builder prefers. The small Blinkin’ Buddies sets with 23 pieces are a good place to start. For more advanced builders or for kids to share, consider the Plastic tub with 100 pieces and fifty suggested builds. Marked for 3 and up, we suggest that kids need more dexterity than most 3s have. This is a better choice for older preschoolers and early school aged kids.
