LeapFrog Mr. Pencil’s Scribble and Write

(LeapFrog $21.00)

We’ve had other writing machines from LeapFrog and this is as good as earlier ones. We're glad to see that the keyboard shows both upper and lower case letters and it also shows numerals. There is an electronic pencil that is used to trace the letters with arrows that teaches directionality. There's a spelling mode, as well, but it is well beyond the younger players. Marked 3 & up, but really more appropriate for kindergarten and first graders. Preschoolers need to begin forming letters with bigger free arm motion on blank sheets of paper with paint, crayons and less restricted spaces and tools. This is scaled for the next level up for kids with more motor skills.
