Mattel Barbie Supermarket Set

The package we received with this Barbie is called Barbie Shop for a Dinner Party. But online it's called a supermarket, even though it is more like a mini-market, right?
So, here’s my story and I’m sticking with it. Barbie's at her beach house; you can tell since she’s wearing her floral sundress and sneakers. The weekend is coming and Barbie will be having dinner parties for her guests, you can be sure. Naturally, she has no time to lose. She’s at the shopping mini mall (the big food store is too busy!) In the mini-mall, she fills her shopping cart with fruits, veggies, and all the other must haves, including Barbie Magazines at the check-out counter. A 25-piece set with lots of dramatic play and little pieces of plastic for those so inclined. For Barbie fans, the possibilities are tempting, with a scale to weigh fruits a shopping bag, a computerized counter and movable conveyer belt that will spill the food into the shopping bag.
Or for the hair obsessed, consider the 10-piece A Day at the Salon Barbie, with mirrored beauty shop station that converts from washing sink to hair styling space. It comes with accessories for blow-drying, brushing, spraying and whatever else. Barbie sits in her modern swivel chair waiting for the operator to get started. Dolls for the beauty salon are available in diverse skin tones.
We have to wonder when they are going to package this setup with Ken doing the shopping and for that matter, how about Ken at the hair salon? These two new settings might have been made forty years ago although, we acknowledge that many of the other Barbie dolls this year are less stereotypical.
