This particular build caused a great deal of debate in our office. Do girls need a pink castle to be interested in building? The answer depends on the child. The benefits of playing with construction toys far out weighs our general preference for gender neutral toys. Which is a long way of saying, if your daughter doesn't think building is for her but she loves all things Disney Princesses -- then this is a great way to get the building going. The set is marked for 6-12 -- if you're buying for a 6 year old, they will need assistance. We'd recommend doing one part at a time and not have all the bricks out at once. Visual discrimination, spatial relations, staying on task, building confidence levels -- all come from playing with this kind of toy. The set comes with two mini figs: Cinderella and Prince Charming (of course). There is also a foal and two mice in the set.
