Mudpuppy Little Traveler Board Book Set
(Mudpuppy $14.99)
Four chunky books introduce kids to landmarks of the world, vehicles, food, and animals found in various places in the world. For example, the Vehicle Book has a Cable Car from San Francisco, a double-decker bus from London, a sailboat from Barbados, and a tuk-tuk from Thailand. The Animal Book features a lemur from Madagascar, puffin from Iceland, tortoise from Ecuador, and kangaroo from Australia—these are pretty esoteric for very young children. The Food Book features sushi from Japan, tacos from Mexico, gelato from Italy, and a pretzel from Germany. Of course, foods are so international, happily, it’s possible to get these foods anywhere. But it does give you a chance to talk about where these and other dishes originated. The Landmarks Book is probably the best of all, featuring the Taj Mahal in India, Eiffel Tower in France, Great Pyramids in Egypt, and the Statue of Liberty in the USA. Hard to say what age child will like these best. They look like toddler books, but they are not; they’ll probably mean more to children in the early grades or to families that travel internationally with young children.
