Gamewright Hi Lo Flip Game

(Gamewright $11.90)

Testers had good fun with this numbers game —a perfect choice for family game night. Hi-Lo Flip calls for a little strategy and a whole lot of luck. Deal out seven cards. Turn up the top card on the slush card stack and get ready to play. There’s a chip that says hi on one side and lo on the reverse. First player tosses the chip and must play a card from her hand depending if the chip says---hi or lo. If the player can’t find a card in her hand she takes an extra card. But remember the object is to get rid of all the cards in your hand, so the fewer cards you take, the better off you'll be. Now it’s the next players turn. If she can’t put a card down to match the hi lo chip she can take a turn and flip the chip. To add to the challenge, there are other signs on some cards that allow a player to take the next player’s turn away. Other cards with a star mean you get 10 points instead of just one for playing your card. The rules are pretty easy to master and if you need help you can go to You Tube and watch a demo. Recognizing hi and lo numerals is not as instantaneous as you might think for early school age kids. This kind of game can help builds kind of speedy recognition and mastery they need while learning to take in stride the hi's and lo's of winning and losing. First player to 75 points wins. 8 and up
